Noe Kidder, Marc Gallay - Drawing from Sources

Noe Kidder, still from MWOQB

NOE KIDDER
Enigmatic and still intuitively comprehensible, Noe Kidder's films spread strong images with evocative power, expressing the inexpressible in reduced pictures. A tree, a suitcase, a puppet, a candle: familiar objects becoming symbols. Memories of childhood, shelter, but also departing and separation emerge from the pure material forms and their combination. Noe Kidder's artwork reveals secret knowledge of life, of nature and human spirituality in subtle notions. Marc Gallay added sound to some of her films, intensifying their immersive effect trough gentle compositions of voices and natural sounds.

MARC GALLAY
Marc Gallay chose the role of the unseen commentator, never visibly speaking in the films he makes. Even when he appears on the screen, his face is kept hidden, he always is voice-over. He contributes sound compositions and narration to various film projects, his sound-work always being on par with the visual component, if not the predominant part. Like a poem, softly told, imagination and fantasy are explored. The content of Marc Gallay's narratives often stands against the harmonious semblance of the visuals, eroding their superficial peace.

Nice description of the work.

I think that Mark and Noe share image making duties.

Mark Gallay spells his first name with a "K" and not with a "C."
